The name Tantikvárium represents more than just a bookshop; it tells a personal story deeply rooted in my family’s life. I founded this shop in memory of my beloved grandmother, Emília Tabáni, who inspired me throughout her life with her profound love of books and reading.

Emi Mama, as many called her, was not only a central figure in our family but also a true embodiment of knowledge and culture. Some of my most treasured childhood memories are the evenings spent with her, listening to stories, reading books together, or leafing through old volumes side by side. She always emphasized that reading is not merely entertainment, but a key to understanding life. Her love and respect for books were passed on to me, and this passion has shaped my everyday life ever since.

Tantikvárium is not simply an online bookshop, but a community space built around a shared love of books. Every book here has its own story, and I want every visitor to feel a sense of belonging — to feel a little at home.
